Writing Update

Very little writing accomplished this week.

Last Wednesday, Tia, my Sharpei, had a lump near the end of her tail removed. It had started to grow and change. Yesterday, the vet called. It was cancerous. We are hopeful as it’s been removed, all will be well. Needless to say, she has not been happy. She has to wear the dreaded cone – for another week! Fortunately, she’s mastered navigating the house and is no longer waking me during the night. I have been giving her lots of TLC. She’s lovely, feisty, and joyful.

I’ve been keeping in touch: Writer Unboxed, Twitter, and facebook.

I’ve been jotting down ideas, so all hope isn’t lost.

How is your writing coming along? How do you stay focused?

  1. Hi Brin,

I am sorry about your doggie, you are probably tired and worried. Try to do something really nice for yourself to feel better.

I think your idea of just jotting down ideas is a great one. Years ago there was this great movie that wasn’t well known. It was called “Night Shift” and was absolutely hilarious. Michael Keaton played this totally goofy guy, who never got anything right, but said he was an “idea man”. Throughout the movie, he carries a tape recorder and no matter what else is going on, if he has a brainstorm, he takes out this little recorder and says a one sentence ridculous idea into the recorder. With my very fast learning curve the last few months, I have often thought about that character, and especially thought about keeping a recorder in the car. Probably 80% of what i write is conceived of in the car, and then I rely on my memory which isn’t a great idea at this stage of my life!

i LOVE your post about writing. I think i will print it out and post it somewhere in my room. But, honestly, my life has been so enriched by my recent small endeavors, I really don’t care right now about “readership”. On top of it all, I have made a new friend like you…the cool thing is, if you look at the rewards of writing, they are really exponential, especially in this day and age of cyberspace.

Take care, I hope your life feels better soon, and be well.
    Mary Ann
